I was thinking about naming this story sister sister lol... but... idk.
This does have 2 main characters. Even though Neveah's is shorter than Heaven's I just wanted to put both of their POV's in one.
“We came in together, and we are going to leave together. You got that.” My sister said to me as we overheard the lady at the front desk. “You need to stop worrying about being separated because I promise you that we won’t be.”
“Neveah.” I said to her. “You promised that the last 10 times you was chosen.”
“Heaven. We are a package deal. They can’t have me without the other. We been here for 9 years and we would stay here even longer if we had to until a family comes and takes both of us out of those double doors.” Neveah said to me and I started to tear up.
Our parents had died 9 years ago and we knew no one who could take me and my twin sister in. They were all we knew and their lives had to end in a fatal DUI accident, it was a touchy subject that we don’t really like to talk about. 9 years and every time we had the chance of being adopted or going to a foster home, they would never have the both of us.
“Heaven.” Neveah said wiping my eyes. “I am sure they would love us. We just got to be inseperable like we always been.”
“Here they are.” Mrs. Sanders said to the couple. “This is Heaven and this is Neveah. They are 14 years old, they would turn 15 in exactly a month. They are twins, obviously you can see that. Neveah likes to read, she memorizes practically everything. Heaven likes to draw and she is also into the dramatic arts.”
“That’s enough Mrs. Sanders.” This lady said. Neveah looked at me and smiled. “I think I know exactly which one we would love to have. We have been in discussion with this before correct?”
“Yes we have.”
“It is settled. I would love for Neveah to come with us.” She said to her and then looked at Neveah. “We would love to have you in our home.”
“No.” Neveah said. “Package deal. She has to come with us.”
That was her usual argument. Most of the times she would have to throw a fit and I would have to do the same thing in order for both of us to go. They see us as troublesome and decided to just leave us both here. No one wanted to have both twins, just one. Why want a twin and only leave with one?
“I know about yall two trying to stay together but I only have room for one. I wasn’t planning on two.” She said again.
“Then get the other girls.”
“But I liked your profile the most.” The lady said to her.
“I am not leaving her.” Neveah said linking her arms with mine. “I will not leave her here by herself.”
“Fill out the paperwork. She is coming with me whether she likes it or not.” The lady looked towards Mrs. Sanders. Mrs. Sanders wasn’t familiar with what was going on. She tried to find someone fit for the both of us to go home to so that we could leave but no one wanted two.
“I am not leaving with you.” Neveah said to her again. The lady looked like she wasn’t going to go down without a fight.
“V, you should go.” I said and they all looked at me.
“I am not leaving you here.” She said to me.
“But she is being persistent. She doesn’t look like she is going to leave with me but she looks like she is going to leave with you. Just go.” I said to her. “Seriously, go. I will be fine. You know the number, you can always call me.”
“No.” She said starting to form tears in her eyes. I was all she had left and she was all I had left but I don’t want to ruin her happiness. The lady wanted her, I can’t stop them from taking her.
“Look. We been here for each other 14 years, we will meet again. I will always be there for you. I will do anything for you and you need to be happy with a family even if it means we are not together. This isn’t working for us, I don’t want to stay here until I am 18 years old and then we have to be forced to leave. Just go Neveah.” I said wiping my eyes. Mrs. Sanders stared at us and watched the lady looked amused and started smiling like she easily won the battle that we haven’t even put an effort into starting.
Neveah gave me a hug and I hugged her back. We hugged each other because we knew that this would most likely be the last time we will see each other.
“I will go and get the paperwork. Follow me.” Mrs. Sanders said as she walked back to the office.
“Why Heaven?” Neveah said to me not wanting to let go.
“We both deserve a family and if we have to separate to have it. We will.” I told her. Neveah didn’t like the idea at all.
“I am not leaving you Heaven.” She said to me still holding on tight.
We stood there still hugging after the 20 minute process of retrieving documents and school records and she was finally going to leave.
“Call me when you get home.” I said to her and she wiped her eyes.
“I will. I won’t forget about you. We will see each other again. No
matter what it takes.” Neveah said to me as some guys came and retrieved her bags.
“Me neither.” I said waving at her. We just stood there and stared at each other not knowing what to say but we didn’t want our last words to be goodbye.
“Come on sweety. Its time to come to your new home and meet your new family.” She said to her and then smiled at looked at me. “Wave bye to your sister.” She said again and she did and started to walk away.
“I’ll see you soon Heaven.” Neveah said to me as she walked out of those doors. I looked at her as she walked off down the stairs and then I closed the doors.
“That was very brave Heaven but…” Mrs. Sanders tried to calm me down.
“Save it. I just want to be left alone. I just lost my family and my best friend all in one day.” I said to her walking off trying to hold off the tears. My heart felt empty along with everything else. I lay on my bed in my room that was shared along with 2 other girls. It would be 3 but my sister already left.
“I see someone is missing.” Missy said to me.
“Shut up” I said to her as I put my face into my pillow.
“It would be okay. Soon you would have a family to.”
“Your only 8. What do you know about family, you were here since you were a newborn.” I said to her. I knew I hurt her feelings but I didn’t want to be here anymore. I wish it was my time to leave instead.
That was 1 year ago. This is today.
I have a new family now. I have been here for 3 months and I hate it here. Neveah and I still talk but our phone calls have been decreasing a lot lately because I keep getting grounded. I seem to get into trouble for everything even when I don’t do anything.
“HEAVEN!” I heard my adoptive dad George said.
“YES GEORGE!” I yelled back to him from downstairs.
“COME HERE!” He yelled back and I sighed and walked up the stairs into the living room where he laid on the couch.
“Yes George.” I said to him.
“Put this in the fridge for me please and wash the dishes.” George said to me chewing on a toothpick.
“Today is Dennis turn.” I said to him.
“DENNIS ISNT HERE IS HE! DO WHAT THE FUCK I TOLD YOU TO DO HEAVEN!” He yelled and I sucked my teeth at him while picking up his beer. “And stay off the got damn phone at night. I don’t care if your sister stays on the other side of the country, you don’t pay the bills around here!”
“Yes George.” I said to him still standing there.
“And stop calling me George. I am your father now, you better treat me like it. I picked you up when no one else wanted you.” He told me.
“No, last I recall Mrs. Amber picked me up when no one else wanted me. Not even you.” I said to him and he took his toothpick out of his mouth.
“Watch your damn mouth around me girl. I aint playing with you.” He yelled. He looked like he was about to get up when Mrs. Amber had walked through.
“What is up with the yelling?” She asked. He looked at her and then looked at me.
“Nothing. How was work?”
“Tiring. Where is Dennis?” She said looking at me.
“I don’t know. He been gone all day.” I said to her. She nodded her head.
“Okay. Sweetie. Put that beer down and go get ready for bed. We have church in the morning. I’ll call Dennis and tell him to come home. Ever since he got a license, he think he can go buck wild.”
“Yes ma’am.” I said to her.
“And stop calling me that. You are family here.” She said to me and smiled and I smiled back. I put the beer up in the fridgerator and headed towards my room when Dennis walked into the door.
“Whats up.” Dennis said to me.
“Your parent is in there acting a fool. Watch out for his manly paws.” I said joking and he laughed.
“I will. We got church tomorrow?”
“Yes. We stay in church.” I told him and he nodded in agreement.
“Okay. Well, see you in the morning.” He said walking towards the kitchen. I sighed and went upstairs and started to write in my diary. I still don’t fit in around here. Why can’t I have my own cell phone like my sister does, at least we could always communicate. Instead I have to be timed and watched while im on the phone. This is my life.

Neveah’s POV
It has been a year since I have been adopted and I am enjoying it. I get everything that I want. I have a big room. I have a nice cell phone. I have all of these things, I never had it before. I heard my sister was adopted a little later than me. I try to call her as much as I can but I always get told its too late to call and then when I do get the chance to talk to her its always for 5 minutes. Like she is in prison. We are almost 16 years old and I want to see her so bad. I miss her. I tried to call her again but I guess her new dad picked up the phone. It is always him, no one else. When it is someone else, it is fine. I hate that. I hung up the phone because I already knew what the deal was.
“Bastard.” I said under my breath and got up and left my room and went to the kitchen downstairs. I seen my mom and hugged her. “Hey mom.” (Yes. I do call her mom. She has been treating me like I was one of her own. I mean, I am but I was really one of her own out of 3 her husband has.)
“Hey sweetie. Your father should be home real soon. Why are you not in bed?” She asked me. She was putting up the dishes and I decided to help out.
“I miss my sister.” I told her.
“I know but you do speak to her right. Wasn’t she adopted?” She asked me.
“Yes but she is all the way in New Jersey and we are like, in San Diego right now.” I told her. “Time Zones are messed up. My birthday is coming soon. I want to see her.”
“Neveah. I let you keep your name but I can’t afford to make that trip with 4 others.” She told me.
“Yes you can. I know you can. Look at this place, its heaven. I want to see my sister and I only want you to come with me. Please mom.” I said to her. She smiled, I knew I was getting to her. All it took was for me to say mom. She told me that she had 2 miscarriages and a stillborn, she didn’t want to try again. It was sad, but I didn’t have any idea what it was until she showed me pictures. I am never having kids.
“Fine. Because you would be turning 16, I will do that for you. Now go to bed.”
“Thanks mom.” I said kissing her on the cheek. “Tell Dad I said goodnight.”
“I will.” She said to me and I walked back up towards my room doing my happy dance.
“Your happy, whats with the excitement.” Eve said to me as I passed her in the hallway. She was my sister. Nothing like my real one but she will do.
“Nothing. Just excited for my birthday.”
“Don’t make plans.” Eve told me. “Mark and I are going to throw you a party.”
“What about Evan.” I asked her.
“You know he still don’t like that you are here. He will get over it, finding out that you are his sister, still takes some time to get used to.”
“Yes, he did have a crush on me. He can kill that.” I told her. “But I have plans for my birthday. More important than your party so maybe when I get back.”
“from where?” Eve asked me.
“Don’t worry about it.” I told her. “Tell Mark and Evan I said goodnight since you are headed downstairs.”
“I will. Good night Neveah.” She said to me.
“Night.” I replied back.
I went and laid on my bed and turned on my laptop. I went to check my sisters facebook page but it was still left blank. I made it for her but its like she never logged on. I go on there and accept friend requests every now and then but still pretty vacant besides a few messages that she receives but never replies to. What is up with that?
“Honey.” I heard someone say and I looked up.
“Hey dad.” I said to him.
“Its time for bed. Got church in the morning.” He told me and I nodded and shut off my laptop and pushed it under my bed.
“Goodnight.” I told him and he said it back and I just laid there thinking.
